Over the weekend, multiple headlines were made on Super Bowl Sunday when The Weeknd performed the halftime show, Tom Brady won his 7th ring, and Drake featured in a hilarious State Farm commercial. The biggest hit of the night includes a meme of The Weeknd’s performance in which he walks through a mirrored maze, which is ala his “Heartless” music video from 2019.

The Weeknd performed multiple hits on Sunday, including his massive, worldwide hit, “Blinding Lights,” which was the final song of the night and also included the biggest number. The performance included hundreds of dancers dressed up as the character he created for his “After Hours” album out on the Tampa Bay field, where the 55th Super Bowl took place. One very notable and impressive detail included in his performance was that everyone besides him wore a mask, due to the current pandemic. He was, of course, tested multiple times before the performance, along with all of the dancers and the singers in the choir.

The performance of his greatest hits began with a haunting performance from a choir dressed in all-white robes and creepy masks of “Call Out My Name.” The performance is followed by his songs, “Starboy" and "The Hills," meanwhile lights lit up with words like "alone" and "rough times" in the background, with the choir. After he wrapped up that last performance, he followed up with another massive hit, "I Can't Feel My Face," which featured dancers with the bandaged look he sported at the recent VMA’s, as we followed him through the maze of mirrors and lights that were heavily featured in his past “Heartless” music video.

He followed up that amazing performance with his songs, "I Feel It Coming," "Save Your Tears" and "Call Out My Name,” this time again with the choir. He sang the songs with tons of enthusiasm and purpose, leaving the audience with chills. After that, he finished it all out with a huge performance of his massive hit, “Blinding Lights.” The bandaged background dancers came back out for one final performance with Abel, this time on the NFL field. The performance was topped off with fireworks, booming claps and tons of choreographing.

All in all, the performance was fantastic and with The Weeknd’s allotted time being shortened by 5 minutes and him having to pay for the entire performance out of pocket, he did amazing with what he was dealt with. A great performance from a great singer.
