What is FBLA?

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a student ran organization here at Winfield High School. FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community- minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. The main goals of FBLA is included in the following bullet points:

  • Develop competent, aggressive business leadership

  • Strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work

  • Develop character, prepare for useful citizenship, and foster patriotism

  • Encourage and practice efficient money management

There are many competitions and conferences that members of the organization can get involved in. Because of COVID-19 in affect, the competitions are still available but are done virtually. The conferences this year were virtual. There are two different ways to compete: taking a test, or doing role-play competitions.

Ms. Fearn is the advisor of the organization, and I met with her to ask a couple of questions: why do you think FBLA is a great club to join, and what are some ways a student can get involved once they are a member. She answered, “I think FBLA is great because it really helps the students prepare for their futures by working on career preparation and leadership development. It’s a great way for students to network with business leaders and bring them community awareness. It also gives the students a great opportunity to work with other students from Winfield HS and also other High Schools in the area.”

“There are so many ways students can get involved once they are a member of FBLA. The students have really liked the fact that they can choose how to compete during competition. For example, they can take a test, role-play or complete a project. The other way students can get involved is by reaching out to local businesses to become sponsors and work with the students throughout the school year. Finally, it gives students traveling opportunities, and memorable experiences. Unfortunately, with COVID, we are not able to do that this year.”

If you are interested in joining FBLA, please talk to Ms. Fearn in room 302 to get an application.
