The Winfield Varsity Girls Volleyball attended the District Tournament at Montgomery County High School on Monday where they faced Bowling Green. The group defeated Bowling Green in 3 out of 5 sets (1: 25-10, 2: 25-10, 3: 25-16).
Coach Brian Hawkins said after the game (Monday),”Varsity won! We play for District Champs on Wednesday.” On Wednesday, the team went back to Montgomery for the Championship game against St. Charles West. They played all 5 sets, and won the district championship. The scores were (1: 25-20, 2: 15-25, 3: 25-20, 4: 17-25, 5: 15-10). Coach Kathleen Forbes read a text from Coach Hawkins aloud in the huddle last night which stated, “Play like this is your championship. We’ve been training all year for this. Keep focused and play hard!”
